Hosting Plan Considerations
Before creating subdomains, verify that your hosting plan supports them. Some hosting plans, such as Economic options, treat subdomains as full domains, which may limit their availability. For unrestricted subdomain creation, consider upgrading to a plan with unlimited domains.
How to do it?
Log into your cPanel or hosting control panel.
Under "Domains", click on Subdomains.
Fill in the fields:
Subdomain: the name of the subdomain you wish to create.
Domain: ensure you select the primary domain under which the subdomain will be organized in the drop-down menu.
Document root: This field will be populated automatically based on the subdomain name, though you may modify it if required by your project.
Click on Create to finalize the process. Verify that the subdomain is functioning correctly by navigating to its URL in your web browser.
You can manage your other subdomains lower on the page.
Troubleshooting Issues with Subdomain Creation
Error: Domain Already Exists on the Server If you encounter an error stating that a subdomain cannot be created because the domain name already exists on the server, follow these steps:
Remove the original configuration or account for the existing domain via WHM (Web Host Manager) or cPanel.
Log in to WHM/cPanel.
Locate the account or domain entry associated with the conflict.
Delete the conflicting domain or account entry.
After removing the existing domain or account entry, recreate the subdomain under the desired main domain.
