Do I need a domain?
Short answer, yes. Do you want a website? You need a domain name. You have to think that you always need to link your domain to your hosting account or your web service. You might compare your domain name to your business address, so if your customers don't know your business address they won't visit you.
Technically, a domain name is a familiar name that facilitates access to a website and replaces an IP address. In other words, a domain name is a familiar, easy-to-remember name used to identify a computer on the Internet. It looks like funio.com, hotmail.com, or google.ca, which is clearly easier to remember than 66.165.74.62, 204.79.197.212, or 2607:f8b0:4006:818::2003.
Also, it allows the underlying IP to be changed, so the domain name can point to a different IP/server.
Generally speaking, the use of a domain name allows easier access for your customers and users to your website.
Could I get a discount price for my domain name?
You are a reseller, we have thought about you. Funio offers a discount price for customers that register and manage more than 30 domains. You can find our volume discount here.
Do you need to set my domain to auto-renew?
When you register a domain, you can register your domain for a number of years. So enabling the auto-renewal for your domain will be an easy way to make room in your calendar for more important tasks. Funio sends notifications to remind you of the expiration date of your domain, but we know that you have a heavy schedule, so we are glad to liberate and automate this charge for you. In resume, auto-renewal reduces the risk of a domain expiring and an offline website by renewing the domain automatically.
Can I cancel my registration for a domain name?
Depending on if your domain is a new registration or a renewal.
Yes, we can refund only for new registrations. Funio can revoke domains only for new registrations made in error and for new gTLD domain registrations only if the domain is deleted within four days of registration.
No, we can't refund for domain renewals because we cannot reverse this transaction. Once the renewal order is received by our billing system your domain is renewed immediately at the registry level. If your domain is set to auto-renewal, we recommended disabling it. Our notifications describe if your domain is set to auto-renewal.
If you don't need your domain name and If you don’t have the auto-renew feature turned on, then your domain name will simply expire after the registration period you have paid for. If you have any doubts and you don't want your domain anymore, please contact us, we will cancel your domain and let it expire.
Do I need to activate domain privacy to my domain name?
When you register a domain name you need to provide an email, a physical address, a phone number, and other personal information. All this information was public before the GDPR implementation.
Due to GDPR implementation, the registrant's contact information is redacted in the public Whois and shows placeholder data to protect your privacy.
Could my contact information be public?
While privacy is important to some people, in some cases, you may want to publish your real contact information in the Whois record. This information could be useful to establish domain ownership, to ease the transfer process, inform victims of any data breach, or even for SSL validation. If for any reason you need to expose publicity your contact information, Funio can deactivate the domain privacy on your domain.
What is a subdomain?
A subdomain is a child of your main domain. You can create a subdomain after registration via your DNS zone. The creation of a subdomain could be help organizing different parts of your website. For example, store.domain.tld, fr.domain.tld, en.domain.tld, or status.domain.tld.
