Account Migration

Necessary checks and practices in case of moving account from a server to another

Prerequisites

  • Access to cPanel or

  • Access to Funio Hub

Task completion: 15 minutes

Expertise: Expert

Either you are hosted in Funio's infrastructure or not, when the time comes for you to change the server, you would usually have to modify your DNS zone to get your website back, up, and running.

Here is a short guide to help you in this case.

You are a new customer

If you want to migrate your hosting account to Funio and you are using cPanel hosting, our team could assist you with the migration. Otherwise, you have to migrate manually your hosting account.

We recommend changing your domain's name servers for our local name servers, see below, but you could also manage an external DNS zone for your domains as suits you better.

Our local name servers are:

ns1.panelbox.net
ns2.panelbox.net
ns3.panelbox.net
ns4.panelbox.net

You are a Funio customer

You use our local name servers.

Do you use our local name servers as below for your domain names?

Our local name servers are:

ns1.panelbox.net
ns2.panelbox.net
ns3.panelbox.net
ns4.panelbox.net

Our team will take care of it all. You don't need to change your name servers.

If you have additional domain names hosted with Funio, make sure to contact your registrar and point these domains to the new IP address.

You use external name servers

So you manage your DNS zone externally. Your name servers are external, or you use io-servers.

Our io-servers are:

ns1.io-servers.com
ns2.io-servers.com

You must update your DNS configuration with the new IP (as an A record).

If you use our io-servers you must edit your DNS zone from Funio Hub.

Follow these instructions: Managing your DNS zone

If you have additional domain names hosted with Funio, make sure to contact your registrar and point these domains to the new IP address.

You use Private DNS

The Private DNS service will be deactivated just after the migration.
It is, therefore, crucial to change your name servers to our local nameservers.

Our local name servers are:

ns1.panelbox.net
ns2.panelbox.net
ns3.panelbox.net
ns4.panelbox.net

Here is how to do it: Changing the name servers of your domain (DNS)

Also, make sure you copy your DNS zone and transfer it to this new DNS zone.

If you have additional domain names hosted with Funio, make sure to contact your registrar and point these domains to the new IP address.

You are a reseller

If you use our local name servers, you won't need to change anything unless for the additional domains hosted on your plan. For these, you need to point them to your hosting plan with the new IP address we sent you. This change is done on your registrar's end.

If you use other name servers or you have a custom DNS configuration, make sure you update it with the new IP address we sent you.

To make sure your emails keep working

We invite you to update the settings of your email client (Outlook, Mail, Thunderbird...). Instead of the name of the server, please make sure you now use mail.yourdomain.com (where yourdomain.com is of course your domain name). Also, Funio requires customers to enable SMTP Authentication in order to send mail from Mail Clients.
